Two of my favorite actors are Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman so when they starred together in Rain Man back in 1988, I was in seventh heaven. I never expected to see them in a film together, so this was a real treat. I have always enjoyed road movies, but this is by far my favorite one. The two actors star as the Babbitt brothers. Cruise is the typical 80s yuppie while Hoffman is an endearing autistic savant. The movie features the two brothers traveling across America and while they are learning different things on the road, they are learning even more about each other. The film was such a hit that it was nominated and won four Academy Awards. Hoffman portrayed his character so well that he won the Best Actor category quite easily. I have this film in my collection and I will watch it at least every few years. They just don’t get any better than Rain Man!
